I'm Back

Wow, things have been crazy over the last couple of weeks. I almost forgot I had a blog. I don't have a lot to say though. Last night I uploaded a few Photo Albums from the wedding. I' still working on the format so I haven't officially linked them to my Photo Album page but so many people have been asking about pictures I though I would post the links here.

Over the weekend, I will be putting together an all new Detroit Piston's Web Log complete with game by game commentary. I know there aren't too many Piston's fans who read this blog so, if you know one, make sure to send them over when it's ready.

Oh one last random comment. I switched two new people to the world of Mac this week. The CDW domination is accelerating rapidly. I've now managed to completely switch 6 people. I also have a scattering of iPod people who are on the cusp. I wish I had the 3 man conversion machine with me, but I must say, I am doing a modest job.

Brought to you by iChat A/V

The Pistons played their first pre-season game of year against the Cleveland Cavs tonight. That was exciting, but the best part is, I watched the entire game over an iChat video conference. See I live in Chicago and the game was only being broadcast on a local Detroit station. As you know, I'm a crazy Piston's fan and there's no way I was going to miss Darko's debut. So, my Dad attached the iSight to a tripod and framed up the TV in my old bedroom in Detroit. Believe it or not, the connection was great. The sound was perfect and although the video was a bit blocky it was definitely watch-able. I connected my laptop to my 36 inch Sony TV and watched the entire game. Most surprising, the connection only dropped once conveniently at half-time so it was no big deal. I had session rolling for 90 minutes straight. That's incredible stability for beta-ware. I can't wait for Panther, I'm sure it'll be even better.

Anyway, the Pistons had a rough start, they looked a bit out of sync and little out of shape. Although, there were a few bright spots. Rip Hamilton was impressive, looking as quick as ever. Darko started well, hitting his first NBA shot and showed some promise, but he did struggle for most of the game. Looks like Chucky Atikns is going to continue his traditional pre-season success, hopefully he can carry that through into the regular season. Also, I have to admit, it was a little odd seeing Larry Brown on the side line. I liked that the new coach will have the Pistons running a bit more, that's something we definitely lacked last year, but its so odd that our new coach is same guy we beat in the playoffs last year. Philly was a talented team but we still beat them, I'd have thought that had at least a little something to do with coaching. Oh well, I'm sure Larry Brown will be better for Darko. It's obvious he has a lot to learn and it seemed that Rick Carlisle didn't have much patience for rookies. We'll see how it all goes, there are 7 more preseason games to get used to it, and I look forward to every last one of them.

A Hairy-tale

I hadn't had a haircut in 3 months and I must say the doo was getting a bit unruly. The longer my hair got the more bald I seemed to appear. That's weird isn't it? Anyway, in the same vein, I decided that if I shaved my head I would look less bald. Now those of you that know me, know that I haven't had a different hair style since the 6th grade, that's more than 13 years of the same ol' rug. Needless to say, I was terrified to do it, so I made a goal for myself. The way I figured it, if I was thinner, I might not look so bad bald, so a few months ago I set out to lose 30 pounds. I'm now down 27 pounds since May, so I started to get nervous, but I figured I'd just get my haircut normally one last time. I thought it'd be good to consult my favorite hair stylist anyway. I'm sure a lot of you know that despite the fact that I now live about 300 miles from Lansing, I continue to drive in to my haircut. I know it's crazy, but for me Tim was like a great doctor... of hair. I just didn't trust anyone else. Just my luck, last week I was all set to see him, but he broke his finger. I'm telling you, I needed a haircut bad. I was looking a bit too much like Bevis. Anyway, to make this long hairy-tale short, I bought some clippers this evening after work, and my wife took it off. It's not so bad. I'm sure my Mom would disagree but hey, she's a Mom. Anyway, I'm glad I did it. I'll try and post a pic tomorrow.

Smallville

The Cubs almost spoiled the premiere for me tonight. Fortunately they lost the game in the 8th and it ended a little early. That was a great episode. The show has gotten very dark and much more mature. Cloe's hair is a bit strange but she's remains oddly attractive. I forgot how much the show sucks when it ends though. They always leave you hanging. Grrrrr. Oh well, I still have to get to this weeks Enterprise on Tivo.

Speaking of Enterprise, I missed last weeks episode cause aparently "Star Trek" was added to the official show's title. Tivo's season pass feature must not be smart enough to figure that out. Oh well, I'm still waiting for Scott Bakula to stop sucking. Sometimes he's as bad as William Shatner. Come on Phil, admit it!
