Notes.

Ok, a few notes. I will be seeing The Matrix Reloaded in the IMAX tonight. I already have tickets so I won't have the 'sold out' issue I had last time. I should have a short review about that experience late tonight or tomorrow. Movie Ranking page is updated currently. After the IMAX tonight I will update again!

Also, apologies to two friends of mine ;) I would like to have been able to go to the Parties in the Park in Muskegon tonight. If you (whoever is reading this) do not have plans already you should go to PitP because it is sponsored by the West Shore Symphony Orchestra.

One more thing, I will be posting some of my MP3's soon (as in within two months). I am not sure exactly what genre of music my MP3's fall under but they are close cousins to techno, trance, house, urban, jungle, etc. Once they are posted I would like to hear what people think of them!

I will be updating later today ... perhaps twice. I will blog on my lunch break and probably also around 2am. In the mean time ... check out what I am drinking right now, here.

Review - The Matrix Reloaded

Wow. I have seen this movie in four theatres a total of five times and I am still blown away by some of the special effects and choreography. I went into The Matrix Reloaded (M2) not having seen the first Matrix (M1) movie in a theatre. This made my M2 movie going experience all the more positive. I liked a lot of things about this movie and I tolerated a few others.

The acting is superb... especially by the supporting cast. Obviously Neo, Morpheus and Trinity continue on the unemotional acting path however, it fits the movie perfectly. The tradition of the classic one-liner, which was ever-present in The Matrix, is carried on in M2. Lines from M1 like Neo: I know Kung Fu. and Trinity: Dodge this. are complemented in M2 by Neo: Hiya, fellas. and Seraph: You never truly know someone until you fight them. M2 starts quick with dream sequence involving a gunfight between Trinity and an agent and ends abruptly with well, I won't spoil it for you!

The story is very intriguing and well told. Strong philosophical and religious themes have already caused M2 to be banned in Egypt. M2 will struggle to stand-alone because it is one part of a three-part story however, if you do watch it without having seen M1 you will still enjoy it.

On to the thing I had to tolerate most in M2. Hmm how about gratuitous use of CGI to render the people of M2 specifically, Neo? A couple of scenes would have benefited had they used less full CGI person rendering and more CGI/real person integration. Enough said.

Overall, I loved this movie; in fact, this movie is now my all time favorite even topping M1. It is stylish, fun, explosive, sexy, fast, philosophically intense, action-packed and much, much more. I plan on Reloading in the IMAX this weekend. I will write a short review on that experience as well.

Birthday Weekend

This weekend was a pretty big movie and music weekend. I went to the theatre to take in The Italian Job and The Matrix Reloaded. I purchased the Ocean's 11 and Operation: Swordfish DVD's and I also bought The Alkaline Trio's new disc, Good Mourning. Will there be reviews? Maybe, I am not turning this into a review site (yet) ;) Right now I am working on a couple of DVD and CD MySQL databases so that is keeping me busy.

Review - X2: X-Men United

Ok, so I know this is a day late … wait, week … no … MONTH late however, I thought I would post it anyway. I saw X2 twice in the theatre and I have to say, I wouldn’t have gone back if I didn’t love it. Fast-paced, character development, character introduction and imaginative all describe this film.

The action is very well executed and the scene/set hopping is well thought out and cohesive. Nightcrawler is the most standout of all of the X-Men… new and old. He is wonderfully acted, his visual and sound effects are near perfect and don’t forget he is damn cool. So the ultimate question … did they stay true to the comic book? WHO CARES! I do not need a Marvel comic geek telling me whether or not I like a character or for that matter, a movie. X2 does indeed stay fairly true to MOST of the characters in the comic book series … at least to my knowledge, but again … it doesn’t matter because I really dig the movie. Go see it; you won’t regret it!
