Amy and I went to a Grand Rapids Griffins game Friday night. The Griffins edged the Chicago Wolves 3-2 with a goal late in the third period. It was a good time and our seats were excellent (one row up from the glass on the blue line).
Oh ... and we won a prize ... A LOAF OF BREAD. Admit it ... you're jealous.
A lot of critics are comparing Gothika to The Ring. Well, let me tell you, Gothika is better then that overhyped 'creepy' movie, The Ring. The acting is good, the plot is better and the paranormal twists are best.
I would love to see a directors cut of this movie.
It's on. Our first rehearsal was Monday, 2003.11.24 and the night couldn't have gone better. We have a determined group of students trying out for Winter-line so we expect to have a great season. More details (and possibly a website) to come ...
Beginning Sunday night and continuing into Monday, I started receiving calls and messages from good friends, friends I haven't talked to in years, former co-workers and family. Two of the first three callers were panicked and heard that I was in a serious car accident ... though I wasn't.
I found out midday Monday after reading an article like this at the Freep that a person with (almost) the same name and of the same age, died in a car accident over the weekend. Well, almost the same name ... he spelled Mays with an e (Mayes).
It is strange (and a little humbling) when you talk to people who thought you were dead.
To the family of Joseph Mayes, my condolences.
To all of those who called, thank you for your concern. I appreciate it.
'The Cat in the Hat'. Hmm. All the reviews I have read have POUNDED on the Cat. Personally, I enjoyed the movie. It isn't as good as Elf but it does have a lot of one-liners that are damn funny. Go see this movie … well, not if you would rather see Elf again.
Me …?... Line?
I have worked as a 'Technical Support Representative' for an ISP. I know the job, I know the policy and I know the procedure.
It took 7 calls, 6 days, 3 Technical Support Representatives, 3 Customer Support Representatives, 2 escalation tickets and 1 Support Engineer to get my account issue resolved.
The problem should have taken about 2 minutes to fix.
All I needed was my account manually registered but, instead I had to jump through support hoops. If I had to grade Comcast on their support prowess ... they would get a C-.
The speed and connection quality however, is excellent ... an A.
So, I am driving into the town I grew up in to stop by Amy's, and I pass by one of the Fire Stations. What is happening at the Fire Station? Well, all the trucks are outside about 100 yards away TRYING to put out a barn fire. It was really very odd (and ironically comedic) to see.
I drove back by later ... the barn didn't make it. :(
This entry is not a review, a critique or a complaint about Revolutions. Rather, it is an observation about The Matrix trilogy in general.
I have noticed that over the past six months there are two distinct ways to refer to The Matrix sequels. The Matrix 2 and The Matrix 3 or Reloaded and Revolutions. A high (>80%) percentage of the people who call the sequels 'The Matrix 2' and 'The Matrix 3', did not like those very sequels. Where as a similarly high (>80%) percentage of people who call the sequels Reloaded and Revolutions, liked, loved or raved about the trilogy.
Personally, I call them Reloaded and Revolutions.
Let me know your opinions and observations in the comment section!
What do the movie 'Elf' and the West Shore Symphony Orchestra have in common? Well, not much really ... except that Amy and I attended both this weekend. In fact, we attended both on Saturday.
Going into Elf I had very high expectations. I had read many positive reviews and now, I am happy to tell you I wasn't let down. Will Ferrel is excellent and the laughs don't slow down (much) from beginning to end. Elf is a great kids movie and a great adult movie, as well. Just remember ... the yellow ones don't stop! ;)
The WSSO presentation of 'A Night at the Opera' featured excerpts from 'Samson and Delilah', 'Akhnaten' and 'Aida'. If you haven't attended a performance by the WSSO, I suggest going. The experience, starting with the Pre-Concert Conversation, through the performance and ending with dinner at the City Cafe, was very enjoyable.
I am testing color schemes on this site. If you see a color error (white on white, etc.) or something that looks wrong, assume it was meant to be that way. ;)
Facts:
I am a Linux user ... Gentoo to be specific.
I use Red Hat, Gentoo, Windows NT4, XP and 2k3 at work.
I am a FORMER Winamp and MusicMatch user.
Why former? Because I have found a superior application ... iTunes. iTunes does everything I need it to INCLUDING library management. Plus, the Music Store is excellent. I don't think I will ever buy another music album via physical CD ... ever.
I have yet to try the integrated iPod features in iTunes ... why? Because I haven't tried an iPod and I know if I try one I will have to shell out $400 to buy one.
Damn you Apple *shake fist* ... what next ... am I going to want a G5 and Panther?
Wow. I never thought I'd be one to say I attended a KISS and Aerosmith concert ... but I did attend one, and I am glad I did.
Both bands put on one hell of a show. Yeah, they are old, they can't quite move like they used to and their music isn't quite as fresh and popular as it once was ... but they can still rock.
I am not part of the KISS Army and I do not consider myself an Aerosmith fan but last night ... last night I was both.
Thanks Korin!
Why haven't I posted in a long time? New (wonderful) girlfriend. New job. New apartment. New {a_lot_of_stuff}.
I plan on setting a webcam up in the apartment soon. Hopefully by the end of the month. Keep watching!
