Lighters are now banned from airplane cabins (they were previously banned from checked baggage).

The motivation was a person trying to light shoe explosives (with a match) in 2001.

Matches aren't banned.

And, at least according to yesterday's All Things Considered, it is OK to pack live ammunition in your baggage. So I guess you can put as much gunpowder and primer in the cargo hold as you want -- as long as you don't pack any explosives. I wonder if this applies to muzzleloaders? Can I check my unloaded flintlock pistol, bullets, and half-pound of blackpowder?
