I just finished washing and sealing the grout/tile.
First, I washed it twice with an anti-grout-haze cleaner (once with a sponge, once scrubbing it with a cloth).
I probably could have made things easier on myself by buying a larger amount of cleaner (and thus being able to change my water more often), but it looks good.
After it dried, I applied the grout sealer. I used a water-based sealer, so there was no extra cleanup. I just have to wait for it to dry and then I can test it to make sure I got good coverage (I ended up using just under 2 cans that say they can cover 300-500 square feet, and I was covering 550 square feet, so I was probably applying it a bit thick).
I also purchased two new vent covers that are back in place (although the one still needs to be fastened). I still need to trim off the bottom of the three upstairs doors (I purchased a new circular saw to replace my broken one, a new finishing blade to make the cuts, and some painter's tape to protect the wood). I was going to do the cuts on the front step, but it's rainy and wet right now. I can probably set up some space in the basement, or wait and do it a little later.
I'll be able to move the fridge and most of the kitchen stuff back as soon as the sealer dries. Then the only things left to do will be to remove wallpaper, paint the kitchen, and install trim.
yay. (pictures will probably appear at some point, assuming I'm not totally lazy).
